Thank you so much!! You captured the feelings of everyone one that day with your lens, it was a amazing and beautiful day. We are all so happy that you were part of this, you have such a great art and talent. It was alot of fun. [mother of the bride]
Wow, you did an amazing job at capturing the essence of Jay and Holly and their love for each other! These are some of the best shots of a wedding I have seen. Thanks for sharing a glimpse into their day! Look forward to seeing them all.

Receiving and reading comments, to me, is like curling up on the couch with a bag of Sixlets, in all their colorful glory, melting chocolate in my mouth, watching the National Treasure, or The Notebook.
Like, seriously, I have the BEST.JOB.EVER. These are just a few of the recent comments I have received on the blog. Why am I posting them here then if you can scroll down and read them under a post?? Because most people won’t click on the comments to either read them or post one themselves. BUT, PLEASE DO! I LOOOOOVE reading your comments! Not because I need a pat on the back, but because I truly care what people think and I just want to know if they are as happy with what I did for them as I was when I was doing what I do! Sometimes I’m just not sure what people are thinking, like especially the parents when they see a not-so-traditional pose their children are in, or the wedding party when they have to hear me “get mean” and try to keep everyone in line. I get so many people- including those in the wedding party and the B&G- coming up to me at the reception thanking me for helping to keep everyone paying attention so they get through pictures and are able to have a great time celebrating with friends. That’s when I breathe a sigh of relief. Only then.

As much as I LOVE every aspect of my job (well, maybe not EVERY aspect) but most of it.. I am feeling like I am just not doing my clients the justice they deserve. Yes, everyone is happy with the end product, such as albums, prints, etc, but I feel like my customer service is lacking and there is soooo much more I want to do with JPP with very little time to do it all.
{ARE YOU STILL WITH ME, READING THIS?}
With that being said, I have prayed really hard for quite some time about where I want my business to be in the next few years, what I want people to experience working with me, and what I want to change. I wake up in the middle of the night tapping Brian on the arm “Are you awake?” I am now. “So, I was thinking”. Uh-Oh.
My mind heavy, I ask him to pray with me about all the things that have been happening with JPP, all the blessings, and the not-so-fun-stuff. What have I had laid on my heart?? To focus more on what I love most about what I do…shooting weddings and getting to know couples… and slow down on the other stuff. With that said, this next year I will not be booking seniors, babies, families, etc. My website will reflect these changes, and will show the work I am most wanting to shoot…weddings, couples, and especially more destination weddings and shoots.
The last two weeks I got to spend helping my very good friend Jason Rob Tivey build his portfolio and get his business off the ground out west. I think I found my forever shooting buddy. Like, I want to take him everywhere with me because ‘he gets me’. Everyone commented on how well we worked together and got along. I had an absolute blast with him and as much as he learned from me, I learned alot from him, too. I realized how much I really want to help others even more and “bring it” to each session I take on. Yeah, I can shoot sports, families, children, but that is not where my passion is. I want to travel, I want to learn, I want to teach, I want to give. I want to give more. I want to share what God has given me and hope to encourage others to do the same.
If you still want to call me for a family shoot, pricing will be alot different and I will be happy to try to fit it in, but don’t be disappointed if I give you the name of a few photog friends in the area who would also do a FABULOUS job!
Wow, did I really share all that? Did I really say I wasn’t going to photograph families and babies and such?? Oh my! Yes, to give my VERY BEST to my wedding couples, I must focus on them completely.
I’m scared, really scared. But I know I have God and my family and my awesome friends and uber cool clients and all the understanding in the world. And, if that fails, I have Sixlets.
Love, JP
3 CommentsEvery year Kohne Photographic in Perrysburg holds a yearly Get Your Camera On photo contest. At the end of the contest they host a get together for the participants to see all the awards and winners and last year I donated a gift certificate and the lucky winner was talented art photographer Ellen L! She contacted me about a large family photo shoot but it ended up being of just her 3 BEAUTIFUL daughters! We opted for one of my favorite places, downtown T town and off we went!
The girls warmed up quick and by the end of the shoot they were all laughing and having fun (at least I hoped they were having fun!)
I asked if they were tired of being photographed by their mom but they admitted they don’t really let her shoot them! I understand that, cuz my teenagers hate it, but I make them cooperate for family pic every year. Its my ‘growth stick”! Since we just bought a house two years ago I don’t have the door we used to measure them on, so taking portraits is my measuring stick!
So ,check out these 3 gorgeous gals and leave them some comments below!
This first one was a surprise for mom, since she is a photographer, and each of the girls have at least a small interest in the art.
These girls were so fun! Thanks so much Laura, Rachel and Mara!

3 CommentsI find it so amazing how two photographers can photograph the same thing ( or persons) and get two totally different images. Like, how differently each one of us views the world-a moment in time- so uniquely, the way only our own eyes can. Does that make sense? We all have a different ‘eye’, a way of seeing things in a different light. I love being challenged by going to the same location and needing to find a new way to present/preserve it in photographs. I also love going someplace I’ve never been and placing a couple in that ‘moment’ the way no other photographer who is shot in that area has done before. That is also the reason I am so honored whenever I am chosen as someone’s [wedding] photographer. I mean, they chose me to capture their moments and freeze them in time for all their years to come. With so much uber fab talent of our Toledo photographers, being allowed to be present on one of the most important days of their lives…WOW. I am truly blessed.
Today I had the honor of photographing with my good friend Jason Rob Tivey who is here visiting from San Francisco. I was asked by Nikki Wolfe, lead designer and president of Elite Events Event Design & Coordination, LLC. to photograph her and her team for an upcoming feature article in The Knot magazine. Jason accompanied me on the shoot, showing off his crazy-mad photog skilzzzz!
Check out just a couple of my faves from the session here. Jason will post some of his images on his site soon! Much more to come soon!
You can also check out my FACEBOOK PAGE by clicking HERE to view more images soon.
Nikki, you have a great team and I look forward to working with you much more!

3 CommentsOn Saturday
I dreamed about photography last night. Go figure.
Usually at bedtime I am reading about photography, be it in a Rangefinder magazine, a business book, or just flipping through pages of a fashion magazine for inspiration. It’s on my brain all the time. I go to bed thinking about it, pray about it, dream about it, and it’s usually one of the first thoughts in my head in the morning as I talk to God about how I should spend my day.
This morning I woke up thanking God for every blessing he has placed in my life, including my amazing husband and four fabulous children, asking for blessings upon them as they go about their days. Then I realized, I hadn’t taken a picture of my husband yesterday on his birthday. Not. One. Picture.
What was wrong with me? Just because he is 40 he doesn’t get pictures taken as he opens his gifts from family? No pictures of us at dinner at Granite City? No pictures of him blowing out the four candles I had placed on his cake from Eston’s?
So, with photography on my mind as I opened my eyes this morning (groggy, at 7:30 a.m on a Saturday!) I mumbled to him as he was leaving for men’s bible study at church Im making your portrait today. What? Just give me ten minutes later, okay? Sure, he replied.
On Sunday
Well, I never did get to take his picture. Time got away from us, chores needed done, the kids needed our attention, and bedtime drew near.
Now, it’s Sunday, two days after his birthday. And, today is Valentine’s Day.
This is what I woke up to today, because the man who doesn’t like to be in pictures is also a very loving, thoughtful man, and knows I would at least take a picture of this.
He knows how much I love photography, and even though he cringes when I say I want to make his portrait, he knows it’s my love and he would. So, keep watching the blog. I WILL make his portraits soon. Just him. When the time is right.
LOVE. Pastor Randy talked about love in church today. About God’s love for us. About the love we have (or don’t have) for God. He talked about how when we’re new Christians or new in our faith it’s kinda like when you first find that special someone.
He asked the question
o we love God, or do we just kinda like Him? ouch.
When we first fall in love (or are attracted to someone/something else) we have a heightened awareness. We remember and notice everything about that person.
We pay attention to details~ infatuation. Become infatuated with Jesus!
There is an emotional connection. We have feeling for them and think about them more and more. ( as new Christians we want to learn and soak up everything about God!)
Other things become less important. Our priorities are altered. (We want to spend time with them and put other things aside)
Isn’t this the love we should feel for Jesus? And, if you have this love for Jesus, do you still feel the same as the first day you found Him? Have you fallen out of love? What can we do to get those feelings back?
I am so grateful to my pastor and our church family! Thank you for LOVING us the past 12 years that we have attended Heritage Christian Church!
Love, JPP
