~Holly

Thank you so much!! You captured the feelings of everyone one that day with your lens, it was a amazing and beautiful day. We are all so happy that you were part of this, you have such a great art and talent. It was alot of fun. [mother of the bride]

Wow, you did an amazing job at capturing the essence of Jay and Holly and their love for each other! These are some of the best shots of a wedding I have seen. Thanks for sharing a glimpse into their day! Look forward to seeing them all.

Julie,
I love coming back to your website and seeing the new postings ..Honestly, I love coming back to your website and looking at the old postings…over and over and over!!!
I have to say, with this wedding, you OUTDID yourself!! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful…from the expressions on their faces to the colors to the textures! I don’t know how they will ever choose!
I would love to put you in my pocket so you could always be with me when I’m out with my camera!! :)

Receiving and reading comments, to me, is like curling up on the couch with a bag of Sixlets, in all their colorful glory, melting chocolate in my mouth, watching the National Treasure, or The Notebook.

Like, seriously, I have the BEST.JOB.EVER. These are just a few of the recent comments I have received on the blog. Why am I posting them here then if you can scroll down and read them under a post?? Because most people won’t click on the comments to either read them or post one themselves. BUT, PLEASE DO! I LOOOOOVE reading your comments! Not because I need a pat on the back, but because I truly care what people think and I just want to know if they are as happy with what I did for them as I was when I was doing what I do! Sometimes I’m just not sure what people are thinking, like especially the parents when they see a not-so-traditional pose their children are in, or the wedding party when they have to hear me “get mean” and try to keep everyone in line. I get so many people- including those in the wedding party and the B&G- coming up to me at the reception thanking me for helping to keep everyone paying attention so they get through pictures and are able to have a great time celebrating with friends. That’s when I breathe a sigh of relief. Only then.

{these are some images  took featuring the work of BLISS salon in Bowling Green.}

As much as I LOVE every aspect of my job (well, maybe not EVERY aspect) but most of it.. I am feeling like I am just not doing my clients the justice they deserve. Yes, everyone is happy with the end product, such as albums, prints, etc, but I feel like my customer service is lacking and there is soooo much more I want to do with JPP with very little time to do it all.

{ARE YOU STILL WITH ME, READING THIS?}

With that being said, I have prayed really hard for quite some time about where I want my business to be in the next few years, what I want people to experience working with me, and what I want to change. I wake up in the middle of the night tapping Brian on the arm “Are you awake?” I am now. “So, I was thinking”. Uh-Oh.

My mind heavy, I ask him to pray with me about all the things that have been happening with JPP, all the blessings, and the not-so-fun-stuff. What have I had laid on my heart?? To focus more on what I love most about what I do…shooting weddings and getting to know couples… and slow down on the other stuff. With that said, this next year I will not be booking seniors, babies, families, etc. My website will reflect these changes, and will show the work I am most wanting to shoot…weddings, couples, and especially more destination weddings and shoots.

The last two weeks I got to spend helping my very good friend Jason Rob Tivey build his portfolio and get his business off the ground out west. I think I found my forever shooting buddy. Like, I want to take him everywhere with me because ‘he gets me’. Everyone commented on how well we worked together and got along. I had an absolute blast with him and as much as he learned from me, I learned alot from him, too. I realized how much I really want to help others even more and “bring it” to each session I take on. Yeah, I can shoot sports, families, children, but that is not where my passion is. I want to travel, I want to learn, I want to teach, I want to give. I want to give more. I want to share what God has given me and hope to encourage others to do the same.

If you still want to call me for a family shoot, pricing will be alot different and I will be happy to try to fit it in, but don’t be disappointed if I give you the name of a few photog friends in the area who would also do a FABULOUS job!

Wow, did I really share all that? Did I really say I wasn’t going to photograph families and babies and such?? Oh my! Yes, to give my VERY BEST to my wedding couples, I must focus on them completely.

I’m scared, really scared. But I know I have God and my family and my awesome friends and uber cool clients and all the understanding in the world. And, if that fails, I have Sixlets.

Love, JP

Holly+ Jay= Mr. & Mrs. Thomas

August 27, 2010 Weddings

When I first met Jeremy (A.K.A Jay) I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding. Usually I meet with brides and maybe their mom’s… Jay came alone. He is so into photography and knew he wanted a certain look. I guess I was the lucky one to give him that!

When I met Holly and we photographed their Couples Fun session she was such a peach and I fell in love with her laugh immediately! This has been one of my favorite weddings of the season and you’ll see why when you see the images below.

We started out at Toledo Botanical Gardens where Holly and her friends got ready and we prepared for Holly and Jay’s first look at each other. I LOVE when a couple decides to do a “first look” and see each other before the ceremony. I used to be a traditionalist, thinking NO! Wait til you see her walk down the aisle! but sometimes his view is blocked from seeing her, and they can’t even  speak or hug at that special moment.  When we set up Holly and Jay’s first look the emotions were on high and Holly actually squealed and as Jay’s back was to her she got all giddy and said I see you! as she approached. He was wringing his hands, grinning from ear to ear and asked when he could turn around to see his bride. The tension was building and it was so cute to watch them.

When he finally turned around he gasped at her beauty, held her tight and told her how gorgeous she looked. He couldn’t have done that during the ceremony. They had a few moments between themselves (with us lurking in the bushes capturing it all), then off we went to capture all the pre- ceremony formal and informal pictures of the couple and their families and friends.

Holly, you are stunning!

Beautiful flowers done by Jill Lipinksi

I love Holly’s look here. She was so excited!!

and the bridesmaid looks here…

And the parents watching this moment…

That’s why I like outdoor weddings…I can get all angles without being distracting!

Is this an uber fun wedding party or what??? So cute!

yep. my wedding party made their get away on a boat!

Does this bride have spunk or what?? Holly, you make me smile!

Holly and Jay’s good friends own 1-2-3 CLICK and Ryan brought the FUN to the Thomas celebration at the Navy Bistro. 1-2-3 CLICK is now being offered through JP Photography so if you want to have some fun at your party ask us about this fun photo booth! You  will also be able to do something similar that JPP offers ourselves called the  “JUST SHOOT ME” booth soon.

Seriously, more fun than should be allowed at a wedding! Thanks for choosing me to spend the day with you all!

Love, JP

I feel sooo bad that I am incredibly behind in blogging my weddings, but I assure you, I have been shooting EVERY Saturday and some Fridays! because of this, I am barely keeping up with it all and it’s a little easier to blog the smaller shoots (families, babies, etc) because i like to spend a little more time on my wedding posts.

So, without further delay, meet Ashley and Jonny. Italian families coming together to unite these two crazy kids and what a partaaay it was! Check out some of my faves from their big day!

I have the BEST fun at our weddings! This was a super cool bridal party!

My fave from the day! This needs to be a huge art piece on their wall :) The old doors and features of the church in the old South End are just gorgeous

I am always super excited to work with these talented guys! Tony and the boys of 56 Daze are the best wedding band based out of Toledo and if you havent heard them play, you need to! Follow them HERE on Facebook to see where they are playing next!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with some AH-MAZING ladies from Bliss Salon in Bowling Green. I first met Christol, owner of Bliss at the Nazareth Hall bridal show last February where she had a booth set up showing off and promoting her amazing RAD hair design and makeup skilzzzzzzzzz! We collaborated in working together to promote our businesses together and it was so much stinkin’ fun doing this shoot! Check it out yo and leave us some comments!

We started off in downtown Elmore with the ever gorgeous Maddie rockin’ her kicks with her wedding gown!

And the stunning, silky, creamy skinned Sarah…

Angelica, AKA “Gelli”, pretty in Pink!

there were so many great images I couldn’t decide on just a few! Check the rest out on FACEBOOK!

And, the crew that helped it all come together…
