Katie & Mike~

September 30, 2009 Weddings

Usually the bride is the one who makes alot of the plans, is most talkative with their plans, etc… not with Katie and Mike! These two both work at Fox Toledo News station, she as a producer, as he as, well, does just about everything else, as he puts it! A little this, a little that. They both have amazing personalities and they bring out the best in each other.

Allow me to share a bit of their special day with you!

All Saints Catholic church is where the ceremony was held.  I think the pastor thought they were somewhat famous because he couldn’t believe how many cameras were on them! Okay, there were only two of us still photogs there, but four video cameras! Come on, when the boss is videotaping it (who, may I add has won several awards) what else can you expect! I love the superstar treament they got!

Elizabeth and Mark~ TRUE LOVE

September 30, 2009 Weddings

I photographed Elizabeth and Mark’s engagement session last year at this time, and I cannot believe we just shot their wedding a few weeks ago! Time flies! Tonight I had the honor of photographing their UNVEILED session and can’t wait to show you those, but I figured I better post some wedding day images first!

This awesome couple was such a joy to work with! We had little time in between ceremony and reception, but their wedding party members all pulled through and helped us get numerous awesome shots in just an hour! This post will have to be in several parts as I have so many to blog! Here’s a sneak peek to wet your whistle!

EM_0031

The day started out at Results Salon at Levis Commons in Perrysburg, where the girls had a room all to themselves for a little downtime in between hair and makeup.

EM_0046

Elizabeth wore a gown from The Perfect Dress out of Ft Wayne, Indiana. It was one of their own designs.

EM_0108

The second most important piece of the attire…

EM_0119

Just before the ceremony the groom had a note delivered to his bride.. I love the little hearts in the corners!

EM_0130

I love being able to capture the father of the bride seeing his little girl in her gown for the first time. And, in this image, I know mom was just as excited to see his reaction!

EM_0185

EM_0172

EM_0209

Just stunning.

EM_0211

I think it’s so cool to see how the best man was eager for his friend to see his bride walking towards him. Like, “brace yourself, buddy, here she comes”, both in awe of her beauty.

The ‘getaway’ cars

EM_0097

You know I had to find something cool to do with the rings and the car! Just for you, Elizabeth!

More to come, I promise!

Carlynn and Nate~August 15

September 27, 2009 Weddings

This FABULOUS couple came all the way from Denver to deliver their nuptials to each other and it was one of the best parties of the year!

I have held off blogging so much because I don’t have much time to write, and certainly can’t think clearly enough at half past midnight to write effectively enough to give my awesome couples the glory they deserve, so, I digress, I will just post the images and hope they speak for themselves, with a tiny bit of help from my not-so-witty writing abilities…

Ahhh, the beautiful Cadet West Ballroom of Nazareth Hall…with decorations of pink and champagne, any girl would love to celebrate here with friends and family.

Slackers, I tell you

September 22, 2009 FUN!, News

I’m guessing by now all of our loyal blog readers have noticed blog posts have slowed tremendously, and have been few and far between this summer. You’re probably wondering if we’re even working at all to have anything to post… I assure you, we are! I swear it feels like we have a million and one things going on right now, and, although it can be stressful at times, I am so grateful and lovin’ every minute of it! (well, almost every minute!)

I am shooting 4-5 sessions a week in addition to our normal wedding schedule every weekend.Totally not slacking, I swear!

I have a bunch of shoots this week, including 2 seniors, a fREE tO bE mE  session (FTBM), 2 Intimate sessions, and a Couples Fun session (CFS). Next weekend we have 3 weddings, one of which I actually get to enjoy and help with as it is Brian’s sister! of course, Echo and Jaylene will be the photo warriors at this soiree, but I’m sure I’ll have my trusty sidekick camera glued to my eyeballs since I’ll have front row seating in the church as family! (that’s if I can hold back the tears!)

A few other tidbits of info and stuff that is happening with us here at JPP…

I bought a new camera! yay! The ever so popular new 5D Mark II! I am so excited to use this and bring you new exciting things! Oh, the possibilities!!

I bought a new computer! Hubby is putting it together as I type! We are just too busy to keep up with one main computer and a laptop (which I really only answer emails on and surf the web and network). Jaylene and I are working around the clock, trading shifts, almost literally to try to keep up and get all our fun loving clients their rad mad imagery they have so been looking forward to.  Thanks for your patience everyone!

I found a rockin new website that completely inspires me and makes we want to change my style to reflect my new ideas! So EXCITING! ( I am clapping right now…Brian says it’s my happy dance!)

I am conjuring up a brand new display idea for our next Bridal Show. I have been wanting to do something like this for quite some time, and have seen other vendors do something of the sort in other areas, but I am putting all my thoughts and ideas into one 10×10 booth, let’s see how it comes out! Keep following the blog!

Here is a sneak peek from a recent session. If you haven’t seen yours yet, keep watching and I promise to get something from every session posted. Trust me, I am barely sleeping! I so want to show you all what we’ve been up to! And, don’t forget to share the site with your friends and family.

In an average day we get over 100 hits to the blog so bring on your commentsall you who never write a word! Don’t be scared. Comments ROCK our world!

Rants and Raves

September 15, 2009 News

“We don’t make a photograph just with a camera; we bring to the act of photography all the books we have read, the movies we have seen, the music we have heard, the people we have loved”. ~ Ansel Adams
Ok, I’m gonna rant for a minute…
Sometimes it just cracks me up those who tell me, ” We don’t need a lot of photos, just few pictures of {this or that} and that’s all…”
I don’t do snapshots (although maybe some people may think that).Okay, maybe of Julian with my camera phone or P&S and then add them to Facebook..
I happen to like my photography.  I like my style. I get inspiration from TV commercials, magazine ads, books I read, and yes, some of the blogs I read, when I get a chance. I look at what a client brings for attire, talk with them a bit to get to know them. That’s what inspires me.
I attend conferences, invest in great equipment, study whenever I can, spend time analyzing MY OWN work, cuz that’s where it matters, not what someone else is doing or how they do it, but how I do things.
My own sister would tell me ” can you fit me in for a few quick shots of the boys?Umm, no, you can do that yourself! I’ll do a photo session with them and take more than 20 minutes. She has since learned to book with me in advance (for the cost of love only :) and I take my time and give her great shots of her children.
What I’m trying to say is, we CARE about our work. We take time to edit and retouch. I met a guy in a bridal show out of town that told me “I post the images online the night of the wedding so they can see them right away.” My assistant who was with me said ‘ I don’t know about you but I know what I’ll be doing on my wedding night, and it’s not sitting at the computer looking at pictures!” LOl she cracks me up! He said he didn’t get to bed til 2-3 o’clock in the morning after a wedding. Then, when I was thinking I was maybe not doing all I could for my clients my trusty assistant reminded me that it is good that I have someone else edit my images because it’s a fresh pair of eyes, not tired from working 10-12 hours, and has fresh perspective on things. hmmmm. Now I’m not feeling so bad.
As long as it takes us to shoot a wedding, it takes about that long to edit it, if it’s done right, and we want it done right.
Now for my ~Raves~
First, for my editor Jaylene. Jaylene has been with me for almost five years. She came to me for her senior photo session, then started assisting me, and has since graduated from OIP&T so I offered her a position here. She also assists on photo shoots. She has been banging out the sessions as quick as she can while I am busy shooting, consulting and booking clients, marketing, ordering, and running the every day office tasks. She is totally ROCKIN it out for me and I’d be lost with out her!
Second, for my girl Echo. Echo came to me five years ago for an internship and once she graduated from BG she came to work with me permanently as well. Although she works another full time job, at one time I think she held three part time jobs at once and went to school, she is still at the ready and I give kudos to her! Her photography has come full circle and we now have requests every week for her to shoot weddings! Don’t hesitate to book if you are thinking about it! I have such an AMAZING team and I couldn’t be more happy!
Next rave is about my clients. I swear I get all the best! A fellow photographer once said to me ” You’ll book the ones you’re supposed to have and I’ll book the ones I am supposed to have”. I ALWAYS think of that. My clients are DA BOMB! Thank you, all of you, for choosing me, for believing in me enough to refer me to others, for your patience when I fall a bit behind, and for allowing me to shoot you the way I see it and not questioning it (although, sometimes I see the look on your faces, haha!)
And lastly (for tonight anyway cuz I’m tired and need a recharge, like plugging in  battery when my head reaches the pillow) kudos and much love to my family. I apologized to my 16 year old today, who has been asking for t shirts to be made for his band before their next show, for putting them on the back burner and not having much time to talk or do things for/with them. He said “You’re always working, it’s okay’. Uggh. Knife in the heart. And, trying to plan our daughter’s wedding, man I think this is so gonna help me have more sympathy for the MOBs and trying to stick with a budget but give her everything you’ve dreamed for her to have. And, for Brian, my oh-so-wonderful-puts-up-with-me-and he STILL greets me with a kiss on the back of the neck when my face is glued to this blue screen called a computer. Gosh, I love that man!
I.am.so.blessed.
Another shot from Kim and Dave’s UNVEILED session.
