Hilary & Jaime {married}

Hilary and Jaime. Theirs is a story of TRUE friendship, best friends.

They met in grade school, fifth grade, to be exact.Though they didn’t start “dating” until the seventh grade, and had been inseparable ever since. Seventeen years dating, a good portion of that had to be long distance due to Jaime serving our Country in the U.S Marine Corps and a move for work to Chicago.

He proposed on Halloween 2014 because they had so many special memories of Halloween nights celebrating. Jaime arranged for for all of their closet friends and family to come over after to celebrate. Smart guy!

Jayme says he loves Hilary’s kindness, her humor, her dedication, smile and lack of a filter. She says what is on her mind!
He especially loves her freckles when she gets a little sun :)

When I asked Hilary what she loves about Jaime she replied :

I love how loyal he is. How he is the only person in the world that can make me laugh and forget that I was ever upset or angry. He understands and sees all my faults and still loves me anyway. He is a genuinely good person, people gravitate toward him, love being around him and knowing him. He’s a dreamer, which can also be annoying, but he is completely optimistic always. He doesn’t follow rules, doesn’t believe he fits into a specific category, he pushes boundaries for himself and isn’t afraid of challenges. He thrives sometimes in chaos and never acts afraid. He’s strong. He loves family and is excited to be a dad some day. He wants to raise three girls and has openly shared that with several people recently. He keeps his emotions close to his chest and doesn’t always share, so when he does he is completely sincere. He doesn’t cry ever, but he cried at our rehearsal dinner. When I jokingly whispered in his ear if he was getting cold feet he responded that the day was getting closer that he would have to share me with others, meaning our future children, and that scares him because he’s always had me all to himself, lol. And he was being completely serious, I thought it was cute. He obviously isn’t the jealous type, but just understands that the dynamic will change when and if God willing that day arrives, and he doesn’t want to lose what we have. I obviously told him that he never will.

Jaime, what was your favorite part of your wedding day?

“Seeing Hilary walking down the aisle, it was like  seeing her all over again for first time. It actually was meeting my wife for the first time!”

Hilary’s favorite part of the day ? “The reception, it went by so fast. The speeches given by our family and closest friends, the dancing, the Chinese lanterns at the end of the night, and the impromptu after party at Martini and Nuzzis until they closed at 3am. All of our friends dragged us there and we were glad we went, it was a long day, but we all had such a great time and didn’t want the night to end!”

Gretchen & Chad { Zeke’s Birth Story}

zeke_0090
This week I got to photograph not one birth but TWO, and neither of them knew what they were having until baby was born! I LOVE that!

zbirth_0580
Defiance Regional is only one local hospital that I know of that still uses real ink to do foot prints. I think I’m going to start carrying an ink pad because these images steal my heart so!

zeke_0081

I wasn’t allowed in OR this time, which I am totally bummed about but.. smaller hospital.. so I sent my camera in with Chad and asked him to get certain shots. He did really good! And a nurse even grabbed this image above of Chad and Gretchen seeing baby boy for the first time.

This next image of Chad in the hallway though… they did allow me back in recovery and I was able to capture this sweet moment, Chad still with tears in his eyes as he swooned over his son.

Big sister Millie, whose birth I was also present for to capture  a year and a half ago, was the first to come in and meet Zeke David.

Then the grandparents were brought in. Remember, know one knew what the gender was. Their reaction was pure excitement and surprise!

Julie & Joe {Edynn’s Birth}

Ebirth_0480
I ALMOST didn’t make this birth. ALMOST. When I’m hired for a birth (usually in the first trimester) I talk extensively about communication, when to call/text me and how often once admitted. Julie and Joe were amazing at this, but baby girl decided she was in a hurry. THIS is the reason I tell people to text me EVERY LITTLE UPDATE, which they did, thankfully. 8:30 am. all checked into hospital. Still dilated to 3. 12:37 p.m. dilated to 4-5, midwife was about to break the bag of waters. I was having a ‘working’ lunch 10 minutes away and told my friends I was going to stop into hospital and check in with Julie, thinking it might be a few more hours. Julie was feeling well and not in much pain. 1:13p.m as I’m about to leave for hospital located “around the corner’ I get a text “We’re at 7-8″. “okay, I’m on my way” I text back. Driving, pulling into parking lot. 1:26 p.m.  “She’s 10′. I’m parking run into hospital, stop to get visitor pass, walk as quickly as my short legs will take me, Julie is saying “I have to push!” (There was no time for epidural going from a 5 to 10 in one hour!) Midwife gets all set up as I’m grabbing my camera out, get into place, three quick pushes and one amazing birthing yell later, baby was out! It’s a GIRL!! This is the story of Edynn Rae, born to Julie & Joe on Tuesday October 13th.
Ebirth_0448
The first moments baby is placed on mom is the most precious ever. Expressions are priceless, as Julie’s exhaustion from going ALL NATURAL are evident in the first image of three above. Then pure wonder and excitement quickly follow.

Big sisters come in to meet baby Edynn, and are full of wonder. I adore these moments.

This image though… I hope when they are older and maybe when one is standing up as maid of honor at the others’ wedding, they show this image and say ‘I remember meeting you for the first time, and we’ve been best friends ever since.”

    This was an experience I will never forget. I am so honored to have JP to capture what could have slipped my mind due to being in a zone :) (if you know natural labor :) ) I love all the pics. A strong meaning in every picture and I love it all!

Carly & Ben {married}

He was so nervous. Ben couldn’t eat that day in anticipation of marrying is best friend. As Carly walked toward him for the first look  even I could feel his excitement building as she walked around him, teasing him before allowing his hands to fall from his face to view her beauty. His look of pure joy said it all.

As their friends and families looked on, they confessed and made promises to each other of a love that would last forever.

Carly’s maiden name is Love. LOVE. How much more perfect could that be??!

LOVE is my whole mantra! I LOVE love. I love seeing love, capturing love, giving love, sharing love… Sorry Ben, I think I would keep my maiden name if it was Love.

Kristen and Rob knew how to have fun on their wedding day! Their no fuss approach to everything made the day all about joking and having a great time. The weather was perfect at Nazareth Hall, and so were the nuptials!
